DIY: Makeup Brush Planter

I just bought a new set of makeup brushes, and unfortunately as awesome as they are, they are a little longer than my makeup pouch. So I put together a little planter to put on my bathroom shelf and store my brushes, eye liner, mascara, etc.

This is a really easy way to spruce up your bathroom and add color and character.

Makeup Brush Planter

Supplies:

  • Makeup Brushes and other items to store (mascara, eyeliner, etc.)
  • Decorative Dish
  • Plastic Pellets, Sand, Rocks (can be substituted for any item of similar texture)

For my dish I went with a mosaic pot my cousin made me. I filled it with these plastic pellets that I had on hand. They are what I use when making hacky sacs or stuffing crochet/sewn items that need a little bit of weight to it. Another option would be sand or pretty rocks. If you use a clear jar or vase, filling it up with glass beads would be gorgeous!

Just fill your dish with your base item as in the picture above.

Place your brushes in the base item, and voila, project completed! If you find your items aren’t holding, try putting them in a deeper dish.

Arrange them in any way you like and place in front of your mirror. You’re now ready for a quick access makeover at any time! The best part is that you can most likely find a dish at home, some sort of gravel-like substance at home, either rocks, beads, sand, etc…

I want to see what you come up with!

Happy Crafting!
